Photo to sell: product photos of your piece

Quick answer

With your piece built, tap “Photo to sell”: the piece shows up on wood, marble, cream or a photo of yours, square or portrait, with the design's name. You rotate it, move it and download a PNG. Free on every plan, no AI.

The “Photo to sell” window: on the left the photo with the piece on wood and the name at the bottom; on the right the background, format, piece and text options and the “Download PNG” button.
Everything changes on the photo instantly, and what you download is what you see.

What the photo does and doesn't do

Handled by the site
  • Draws your piece exactly as it is, from the same 3D file you see in the viewer: all its pieces and the colors by part, facing front as in the viewer
  • Places it on a wood, marble or cream background, or on a photo of yours, with its shadow on the table
  • Builds the photo square (1080 × 1080 pixels) or portrait (1080 × 1350)
  • Writes your design's name at the bottom left, and if it's long it fits it on two lines
  • Picks the text color on its own to suit the background: white on wood or on your photo, black on marble or cream
  • Downloads the photo as a PNG, with your design's name in the file name
→ Up to you
  • →Making anything up: there's no AI; the photo shows your piece as it is
  • →Showing the cookie or the piece in use: it's the printed piece on a table
  • →Uploading your background photo: it opens in your browser and isn't stored anywhere
  • →Posting it: you download it and upload it yourself to Instagram, Etsy, Shopee or your store

How the photo is built

“Photo to sell” takes the piece you just generated in the designer and draws it separately from the viewer, on a table. It doesn't go through any AI: what you see is your piece, with its measurements and its colors by part, as in the viewer.

The preview in the window is the whole photo. Every change (the background, the format, the piece's size, the text) shows up instantly, and what you download is exactly what you see.

It's free on every plan: the window title says so right next to it, “Free on every plan”.

1

Build your piece and open “Photo to sell”

Upload your image, pick the product and wait for the piece to show up in the viewer. In the right-hand column, under “For selling in volume”, tap “Photo to sell”. The button turns on when the piece is ready and goes off while it's being built.

It also shows up in the download window, after you download the file (except for SVG downloads).

2

Pick the background

Under “Background” you have “Wood”, “Marble” and “Cream”. The photo opens on “Wood”.

To use your own table or shop, tap “Upload a photo” and pick an image. It becomes “Your background”, with its thumbnail; to use another one, tap “Change the background photo”. The photo opens in your browser and isn't uploaded anywhere; if it's very large, it's scaled down to 2400 pixels on the longest side.

3

Pick the format

Under “Format”, “Square · Instagram” builds a 1080 × 1080 pixel photo, and “Portrait · Etsy and Shopee” a 1080 × 1350 one. The photo opens in square.

4

Position the piece

Above the photo you choose what dragging does: “Rotate” turns the piece around as in the viewer (from one side of the photo to the other is a full turn) and “Move” shifts it around.

Under “Piece”, “Size” makes it bigger or smaller between 50% and 160%. “Center” puts it back in the middle and “Front view” leaves it as it was when you opened it. “Piece shadow” removes or adds the shadow on the table.

With the keyboard, on the photo: the arrow keys rotate or move depending on the mode (with Shift, five times as much) and + or − change the size.

5

Write the text

Under “Text”, the field comes with your design's name; change it however you like, up to 60 characters. “Show the text” hides or shows it without losing what you typed.

Under “Text color” you pick white, black, orange, chocolate or pink, or “Other color”. If you don't pick one, it's white on wood or on your photo and black on marble or cream. With your own photo, “Gradient behind the text” appears: a soft shadow that helps it read.

6

Download the PNG

Tap “Download PNG”. The file is named after your design, with the format at the end (for example, heart-foto-cuadrado.png), and the window says “… downloaded.”. You can change the background or the format and download another one.

Quick tips
Name the design before opening the photo: that name is the starting text and the file name.
Download both: the square one for Instagram and the portrait one for Etsy or Shopee, with the same background.
With your own background photo, leave “Gradient behind the text” on if the text gets lost on the image.
If you rotated too far, “Front view” leaves it as it was when you opened it; if you moved it, “Center” puts it back in the middle.
These same photos, on the three backgrounds, are the ones “Publish to my store” uses on the Studio plan.

If something didn't go as expected

“Photo to sell” is grayed out
Generate the piece first, or wait for it to finish building
The window says “Build the piece first: upload an image or pick a shape.”
Close the window, build the piece in the designer and open it again
“We couldn't open that image. Try a JPG or PNG.”
Pick another photo, in JPG or PNG
The piece ended up sideways or seen from above
Tap “Front view”
The piece ended up off-center
Tap “Center”
The text can't be read on my photo
Change the “Text color” or turn on “Gradient behind the text”
I don't see “Gradient behind the text”
It only shows up with your own background photo
The text came out on two lines
That happens when it's long: shorten it if you want it on one

Troubleshooting

The photo stays on “Building the photo…” or shows the notice to build the piece
Cause: The piece couldn't be drawn: the photo uses the browser's 3D, just like the viewer.
Fix: Close the window, check that the piece shows in the viewer and open “Photo to sell” again.
If it persists: Reload the page and generate the piece again; if the viewer doesn't show it either, try another browser.
I can't find the button in the download window
Cause: After an SVG download, the window doesn't show it.
Fix: Open it from the right-hand column, under “For selling in volume”.
If it persists: If it's grayed out there, the piece hasn't been generated yet.
My background photo won't open
Cause: The browser couldn't read that file as an image.
Fix: Save it as a JPG or PNG and tap “Upload a photo” or “Change the background photo” again.
If it persists: Try another photo: if another one works, the problem is that file.
The text doesn't show up on the photo
Cause: “Show the text” is off or the field is empty.
Fix: Turn on “Show the text” and type in the field.
If it persists: Try another “Text color”: it may be the same shade as the background.
I can't change the text color
Cause: With “Show the text” off, the colors are grayed out.
Fix: Turn on “Show the text” and pick the color.
If it persists: If you want an exact shade, tap “Other color” and pick it in the color picker.
The text got cut off
Cause: The field takes up to 60 characters.
Fix: Use shorter text: the name of the piece or of your store.
If it persists: If it's long, it fits itself on two lines; shorten it if you want it on one.
The file is called “cutter-foto-cuadrado.png”
Cause: The design has no name.
Fix: Type the name in “Your design's name” and download again.
If it persists: Spaces and accents are replaced in the file name: “Pink heart” becomes pink-heart.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?
Nothing: it's free on every plan and uses neither credits nor downloads.
Does it use AI?
No. The photo is your piece exactly as it is, drawn from the 3D file, on the background you picked.
Is my background photo uploaded to the site?
No. It opens in your browser to build the photo and isn't stored anywhere.
What size is the photo?
1080 × 1080 pixels in square and 1080 × 1350 in portrait, as a PNG.
Can I rotate the piece?
Yes: with “Rotate” you drag on the photo and the piece turns as in the viewer. “Front view” leaves it as it was when you opened it.
Does it work with “Publish to my store”?
Yes: on the Studio plan, “Publish to my store” builds the “Photo to sell” photos on the three backgrounds on its own.
