What is a Cutter Stamp and how does it cut and emboss at once?
Short answer: a Cutter Stamp is a cookie cutter with the stamp fused into the same piece: the ring cuts the outline and the inner disc marks the pattern into the dough. You pick it as a product in the kingscutter.com Designer and download the STL.
The stamp disc sits fused inside the ring, with its flat back flush with the base. The piece rests flat on the counter and delivers both cut and emboss in one press.
When should you use a Cutter Stamp, a cutter or a stamp?
Short answer: the cutter defines the outline, the stamp marks surface detail, and the Cutter Stamp does both jobs in a single pass.
| Product | What it does | When to pick it |
|---|---|---|
| Cutter | Cuts the outline | When the value is the shape: hearts, numbers, characters |
| Disc stamp (Stamp) | Marks the pattern without cutting | When the cookie already has its shape and you decorate the centre |
| Cutter Stamp | Cuts and embosses | When the design has both outline and inner detail |
If your job is texture only, on a cookie you already cut, the cookie stamps guide covers the plain disc and its sizes.
How do you get a crisp emboss in the Designer?
Short answer: choose the stamp mode, set the disc back thickness and keep the tolerance at 1 mm. All 3 values live in the Cutter Stamp panel.
Relief or engrave: the 2 stamp modes
In relief mode the pattern rises above the disc: the panel allows 0,5 to 6 mm and the factory value is 4 mm. In engrave mode the pattern sinks and depth starts at 4,5 mm.
The Cutter Stamp ships in relief mode, because a raised pattern reads better after baking.
Disc back thickness and tolerance
Disc back thickness sets how much material stays under the pattern: 4,5 mm from the factory and 2 mm minimum. The panel trims the maximum according to the other settings, so the stamp face never passes the blade tip.
Tolerance is the gap between the disc and the cutter wall. This product starts at 1 mm and the range runs from 0,1 to 1 mm. Very low values weld the 2 pieces together at the base while printing.
Thin lines: measure before printing
Fine line art —interlaced letters, linear drawings, small details— produces lines under 1 mm when the design measures 30 mm. The automatic thickening option brings them to the printable minimum with a threshold of 0,5 mm.
What factory values does the Cutter Stamp bring?
The table below lists the values the kingscutter.com Designer shows when you open the product:
| Value | Factory setting |
|---|---|
| Design size | 75 mm |
| Blade depth | 12,5 mm |
| Blade thickness | 0,8 mm |
| Blade tip | 0,4 mm |
| Base height | 3,8 mm |
| Base width | 4,2 mm |
| Stamp mode | Relief |
| Relief height | 4 mm (0,5 to 6 mm) |
| Engraving depth | 4,5 mm |
| Disc back thickness | 4,5 mm (2 mm minimum) |
| Stamp tolerance | 1 mm (0,1 to 1 mm) |
| Thin line threshold | 0,5 mm |
| Material | PETG suitable for food contact |
How does the stamp grip go together?
Short answer: the grip is a separate part you print, screw or glue behind the disc, so you can press without marking the dough with your fingers.
- Threaded or glued connection, your choice.
- 15 mm thread diameter, adjustable between 8 and 25 mm.
- 4 mm socket depth, between 1,5 and 8 mm.
- 0,2 mm thread clearance, so the thread enters without forcing.
- Grip 15 mm tall and 10 mm in diameter.
- 2 mm bottom rounding, to rest your hand.
The grip and the advanced block appear in the panel's full control mode. The panel itself warns when the socket equals or exceeds the disc thickness: in that case the thread goes through the stamp face.
Which designs work best with a fused stamp?
Short answer: designs with detail inside a clear outline. The kingscutter.com library holds hundreds of designs and these 5 read best with a fused stamp:
- Smiling kawaii puppy face, with eyes and snout resolved in lines.
- Interlaced ABC, for birthday and end-of-term cookies.
- Mechanical skull, mixing a strong outline with inner detail.
- Love in phrases, where the text is the pattern itself.
- Donut cat, a simple outline with fine detail in the middle.
With fine inner lines the design asks for 8 cm or more, so the line does not close in the oven. Cookies with a deep emboss also photograph best. According to Better Baker Club (2022), 37% of people who bake at home and sell report cookies and brownies as their top sellers.
In the physical catalogue of Stay Humble 3D the available sizes are 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 17 and 20 cm.
How do you print it and use it in the kitchen?
Short answer: PETG at 0,2 mm layer height, 3 walls and 15% infill; emboss cold dough and wash by hand.
PETG is listed among the copolymers allowed for food contact in title 21 of the CFR, section 177.1315, and in Europe those materials are assessed by EFSA.
According to our measurement in the workshop, the piece holds both blade and emboss at 0,2 mm layer height, 3 walls and 15% infill. Cold dough and firm pressure mark the pattern more sharply.
Wash by hand with warm water and mild soap. 3D printing leaves micro-grooves that trap dough, and the dishwasher punishes the piece through heat and detergent.
How does the Cutter Stamp combine with sets and packs?
Short answer: the fused stamp also goes into the size set and the multi-design pack, so one drawing comes out in 5 sizes or in 8 models.
In the cutter set every piece can be a Cutter Stamp: up to 5 sizes with a 10 mm step and the stamp fused into each one. The Multi Cutter fits up to 8 different designs on a single print plate.
For orders with your own branding, the Imprint Cutter engraves the client name into dough or fondant.
